El Corral (MBRIC) has been recognised twice in Puerto Rico this year, receiving the Premio Proyecto No Construido at the Bienal de Arquitectura 2025 and the Honor Award for Unbuilt Design from AIA Puerto Rico.
Designed with Adorno Arquitectos, the project is rooted in place and shaped by real Caribbean conditions, flood risk, hurricane winds, and the need for energy independence. Beyond the technical drivers, it is also a hub for research, living, and community, organised around a shared patio at its heart, and tied to the wider blue economy.
For KOSY, this recognition carries an added personal layer. One of the studio’s founders lived in Puerto Rico in his 20s and studied architecture in Spanish, and the island continues to influence how the studio thinks about climate, culture, and building.
Grateful to share this moment with the Adorno team and everyone who helped shape El Corral.
